Church History

Allow Us To Introduce Ourselves
In April of 2008 a group of believers from around Wayne County began meeting and eventually formed Emmanuel Baptist Church (EBC).  This group envisioned constituting a church dedicated to the glory of God, directed by the Holy Scriptures, not man's traditions or pragmatism and demonstrating compassion and love for all men.  We invite you to worship with us, get to know us and learn what makes EBC unique.

At EBC, we desire to glorify God and worship by approaching Him on His terms rather than own.  In a day of contemporary worship and man-centered programs, we seek to worship God by practicing simple biblical worship that exalts Jesus Christ.  We invite you to join us as we seek to worship God in spirit and truth.  We pray that all who come and worship at EBC will leave our assembly declaring that God is with us and desire to worship with us regularly.

At EBC, we have deliberately adopted an historical Confession of Faith, the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith.  We do not believe any confession or creed is inspired or infallible, but we believe understanding and subscribing to a sound, historical Confession is important, especially in a time of religious pluralism and confession like ours. In addition to providing historical continuity, the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith binds us in association with many other churches from all around the world, and provides our members a sound tool for instruction.

EBC is Evangelical in that we believe in the centrality of the gospel.  EBC is Baptist in that we hold to those truths referred to as "Baptist Distinctives."  EBC is Reformed inasmuch as we hold to the great doctrines of the Reformation in the areas concerning the salvation of men often referred to as the "Doctrines of Grace."
